Our guest speaker is Dr. Minas Tsikritsis a well-known researcher of the Linear A and B scripts

The talk will be n Greek with slides in English and some live English translation. Linear B is a syllabic script that was used for writing in Mycenaean Greek, the earliest attested form of the Greek language. The script predates the Greek alphabet by several centuries, the earliest known examples dating to around 1400 B. It evolved from Linear A which was an earlier Minoan script of the Greek language. The speaker will tell us how these scripts show that the Greek language seems not to be imported but a rather indigenous language.  With the help of Dr. TsikritSis we will travel back in history and listen to how the Minoans and the Mycenean, Cypriot, and Aegean people spoke the pre-Homeric Greek language.
